Former Member of Parliament for Soy Constituency Caleb Kipkemei Kositany on Wednesday, February 1, responded to social media reports that he landed an ambassadorial position.

In a statement, Kositany clarified that the so-called appointment can only be announced by President William Ruto, and not anyone else.

In his response, the outspoken United Democratic Alliance (UDA) supporter insinuated that he was yet to receive the communication.

It was widely speculated that Kositany landed a plum job as Kenya's Ambassador to the United States of America.

"Government appoints through a gazette notice, ignore the rumor," Kositany warned members of the public.

The former Member of Parliament also shared a Facebook post that he claimed was spreading unsubstantiated news about him.

In the flagged Facebook post, the former lawmaker was responding to a social media user who claimed that "former Soy Legislator Caleb Kositany appointed Ambassador to the United States of America."

However, Kositany failed to outrightly state whether his appointment is in the offing or the claims are a total fabrication.

Kositany served as a Member of Parliament for Soy Constituency before losing to his closes challenger Jonathan Bii in the Uasin Gishu UDA gubernatorial nomination race.

Kositany was seeking to succeed Jackson Mandago as Uasin Gishu Governor, in a race that he gave up on immediately after UDA nominations.

The former Soy MP congratulated Prof. Julius Bitok and then went back to campaign for William Ruto.

Kositany is yet to be rewarded by President William Ruto for his loyalty after the August 2022 General Election.
