Starehe School & Other Places Magoha's Body Will Be Taken

The Family of the former Education Cabinet Secretary, the late George Magoha, on Friday, February 3, announced that the former CS would be laid to rest on Saturday, February 11.

Addressing the press, former Principal Secretary of the State Department of Early Learning and Basic Education, Julius Jwan, noted that Magoha would be buried in Yala at his rural home.

Before airlifting his body to his rural home on Wednesday, February 8, a farewell caravan shall proceed from Lee Funeral Home to the College of Health Sciences at Kenyatta Hospital, The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council Headquarters, the Nigerian High Commissioner and St Georges Primary School.

Other places include the Kenya National Examination Council, State House Girls High School, the University of Nairobi (UoN) graduation Square and terminate at Starehe Boys Center.

Explaining the choice of places, Jwan stated that they all defined Magoha's adult life.

Thursday, February 9

A requiem mass will be held at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands starting at 9:00 am.

Friday, February 10

The deceased's body will arrive at Township Primary School in Yala before a procession leading to St Marys High School Yala.

On Saturday, February 11

After the procession, a funeral mass for the late Education CS will be held in Yala.

"Professor Magoha's funeral mass will take place at Odera Kang'o University campus in Yala starting at 10 am," Jwan stated.

"The family notes with gratitude immense love for an high regard in which the late professor Magoha was held by Kenyans from all walks," he added.

Magoha's relatives also expressed gratitude to the media stating that they had covered his demise with decorum. 

Ahead of his burial, former President Uhuru Kenyatta and part of his cabinet pledged to support Magoha's family.

Speaking during a meeting with the family in Nairobi on Tuesday, January 31, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i announced that they would fund the education of the students under Magoha's wings.

"I am told that there are one or two things that Magoha was supporting. My cabinet colleagues under our President(Uhuru) will contribute. 

"Uhuru had already talked to me to talk with my colleagues and he is willing to support me. Let none of the children suffers on the account of our friend's departure," he announced.
