A heartbroken girl from Kakamega County resorted to writing her father an emotional letter after he allegedly rejected her and declined to pay school fees for Form One enrollment.

The 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate lamented that her father also failed to admit her to secondary school

In the one-page letter in Swahili, the young girl asked her father not to look for her as she was leaving home, never to return.

"You will never see me again. Goodbye dad," she wrote in capital letters.

In pain, the young girl asked her father not to bury her if they found her body later.

"If you find me anyway, act as if you do not know since when I am alive, you did not want to see me," read the letter in parts.

According to reports, the young girl scored 319 marks in KCPE, but her efforts to compel her father to pay for her school feel bore no fruit.

"My only desire was to go to school but you have denied me the opportunity," she stated.

Meanwhile, cases of learners failing to join higher learning institutions were widely reported after the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced the results.

However, the cases contradict his vow that all learners will transition to the next educational level.

On Monday, February 6, Machogu noted that the number of students transitioning from primary school to secondary school was 1,268,000.

"We are talking about a 100 per cent transition and we are asking the parents that no child should be at home because he/she has failed to be admitted to a school. We assure parents that there are enough slots for all learners," he emphasized.

He added that the government was expected to send capitation money to help reduce the school fees burden on parents countrywide.
