Plans to oust Jubilee party secretary general Jeremiah Kioni and vice chairman David Murathe caught former President Uhuru Kenyatta off guard as he was reportedly unaware of the move.

According to a source close to the embattled SG who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke on Friday, February 10, Uhuru was yet to be notified of the changes being pushed by the faction that visited President William Ruto at State House early in the week.

The source acknowledged that plans had been initiated by the team now allied to Ruto.

However, it was noted that the two party officials could not be removed from office without the ratification of the former Head of State.

"There are plans but the two have not yet been removed from office. It is only the party leader who can authorise the removal of the officials from office," the source stated.

In the changes, Kioni was replaced with EALA MP Kanini Kega.

According to the Kioni's team, Ruto was the orchestrator of the party's woes following the leaders' visit to State House on February 8.

The source alleged that plans were to destabilise the Azimio la Umoja faction as they drum up their anti-Ruto rallies across the country.

Notably, Kioni was attending an Azimio rally in Machakos when news of his suspension emerged.

During the State House February 8, meeting, the team of 30 MPs led by nominated MP Sabina Chege and Kega promised to work with the government.

Ruto, on the other hand, stated that the legislators were back home having worked with the team during his time in Jubilee.

"We will be seeking your support on Bills and regulations on the Housing Fund, Water Purchasing Agreements, among others," Ruto stated.

Uhuru is yet to officially comment on the outser of his allies.
