Former Sports Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Zack Kinuthia revealed reasons why there were no photos taken during the alleged raid at former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiangi's Karen home.

Speaking during an interview at Kameme TV, on Tuesday, February 14, Kinuthia narrated how he tried to film the officers who had raided Matiang’i’s home but his efforts were fruitless.

He stated that the officers were so strict and did not allow anyone to film the events as they unfolded in a split second.

“If you try taking photos of officers, especially at night, they don't allow. For those who attempted to take photos on that day, the officers asked them to stop filming as they had also received orders from above.

They ordered everyone to put away their phones. Anyone with doubts should consult me because I was present,” he noted.

Kinuthia who also served in the Ministry of Education as a CAS further stated that it was hard to recognize the officers’ identities according to their appearance.

“I found seven police land rovers, there were officers who wore white gloves with their eyes covered.

When I questioned their leader, he stated that they had orders from above," he added.

Kinuthia, divulged that he was in Kiambu county at the time of the raid, when he received a phone call informing him that his friend (Matiang’i) was in trouble forcing him to rush to his home.

“I drove through Runda, Red hill, Jame Gichuru, Lavington, Ngong road to Karen where I found the officers at Matiang’i’s home,” he recounted.

On February 11, the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) directed all media houses that covered the alleged police raid to provide evidence of the same.

The regulatory body noted that it had written to the media houses seeking footage of the incident after the Ministry of Interior denied conducting the raid.

On his part, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua dismissed the claims adding that Matiang'i was being haunted by the past.

"Do not mind those pretending that they have been arrested. These people are having hallucinations and nightmares; they cannot sleep because they used police officers to frustrate people,” he noted.
