Embattled Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni embarked on a mission to rid the party of President William Ruto's sympathizers.

In a notice published in local dailies on Tuesday, February 21, Kioni invited party members and delegates to a National Delegates Convention (NDC) meeting.

Topping the agenda list is the election of new party officials, with the notice already locking out individuals based on eligibility.

"Take notice that pursuant to Article 8.1:1 and 8.1:2 of the Jubilee Party Constitution, the NDC will be held between March 24 and 25 at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) at 10 a.m.

"The agenda will be to elect from among legible members of the party, national party officials to fill in the vacant positions," the notice read in part.

Kioni explained that the meeting would also seek to review, formulate and/or approve Jubilee party policy and programs. Other matters will also be considered and approved.

During the NDC, leaders elected under the party ticket in the August 2022 General Election will also be treated to a welcoming ceremony.

The meeting notice came barely a week after Kioni survived an ouster attempt by a section of party members led by East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament (MP) Kanini Kega.

On February 16, the Political Parties Tribunal suspended the decision of the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) to ratify Kioni's suspension as party Secretary-General.

Party chairman Nelson Dzuya declared Kioni, Vice Chairman David Murathe and National Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi suspended from the party following a delegates' conference held in Nakuru.

Dzuya announced that the three would be replaced by Kega, Eldas MP Adan Keynan and Kitui South lawmaker Rachel Nyamai respectively.

The changes were approved by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) but were later revoked by the Political Parties Tribunal following a petition by Kioni.
