Raila Odinga’s onslaught on President William Ruto seemed to have taken a shift from the streets to online bashing after the Azimio leader took the Head of State to task.

In the video the former Prime Minister shared on Thursday, February 23, Ruto is seen pledging a raft of promises to Kenyans while inciting the public against former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Because our opponents have no agenda speaking on Ruto’s anger but have failed to realise that the anger that Kenyans have on sleeping hungry and having the prices of commodities hiked is greater," he stated.

The President is also seen in the video promising free mobile phone calls and internet browsing to Kenyans.

“We have resolved as Kenya Kwanza that when we take power, calls being made by you from the market will be free of charge without fail.

"Many people are struggling here and there to get bundles. You will no longer need bundles to make calls. Calls will be free," he pledged.

It is as a result of this video that netizens took to Odinga’s post to mock the Head of State while others decried the current state of affairs.

“Baba come to our rescue. The President keeps giving more false promises. Baba, you are the only hope we have,” an online user lamented.

Another user by the name of The Kuria revealed that he was waiting on Raila’s direction.

“I'm in Tharaka  Nithi currently and Baba still enjoys massive support here. Many youth are waiting on Baba’s direction,” he posted.

Florence Auma equally complained, "Ruto is exemplary in politics of the mouth. I have come to learn from him that promising a big change and delivering it are entirely two different things."

Barnabas Bett, however, differed from Odinga's view noting, "Change takes time, why should we rush? Let us see if we can work around our taxes for some time and try to avoid borrowing."

In what seems to be an online strategy to counter Ruto’s regime, Odinga, on February 22, gave the government a 14-day ultimatum to reduce the high cost of living in the country.

During his prayer rally at Nairobi's Jeevanjee Gardens, Odinga warned that the failure of the government to yield to his demands would lead to mass protests across the country.
