Security guards at Uhai Neema Hospital became the heroes of the day after they stopped a matatu driver who had taken an injured woman at the facility from fleeing its premises.
The woman had sustained injuries after she was thrown out of the speeding matatu by the tout on board.
The victim fell down badly and sustained serious injuries on her head and arm while the tout reportedly fled away quickly from the scene of the crime.
According to the victim's family member, the victim was thrown off the matatu plying the busy Thika Super Highway after she requested to alight at the TRM area but an argument between her and the conductor ensued as a result.
“She requested to be dropped at the TRM area but the conductor declined saying the money given was not enough and she asked him to deduct the fare from the money she had earlier given him.
"He did not even return the change but went ahead to throw the woman from the moving matatu,” commented the family member identified as Cecilia Njoki.
Due to the serious injuries from the incident, the victim was transferred from Uhai Neema Hospital to St Peter’s Orthopaedic Hospital for further treatment.
According to Kasarani Police Commander Muthoni Wahome, The matatu was impounded by the police but was later released after paying a Ksh 10,000 fine.
The police boss indicated that they were waiting for an official statement from the victim herself to aid in more investigation and action from the police.
The family was, however, yet to understand the basis of the release of the car yet the tout still remains at large.
“We fail to understand how the vehicle was released but we call for justice to be granted because Hannah was innocently thrown out,” demanded Njoki.
