The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) on Wednesday, March 1, warned Kenyans against imposters purporting to offer job opportunities in the institution.

In a notice accessed by Kenyans.co.ke, NHIF disowned the invitation call and flagged it as fake. In addition, the public insurer affirmed that its recruitment process does not feature aptitude tests as purported in one job offer.

"NHIF's attention has been drawn to various communications doing rounds on social media that NHIF is recruiting.

NHIF does not do aptitude tests and doesn't require job applicants to pay any monies for applications. Please be advised that the ad is fake,"  the statement read.

NHIF was responding to a job offer message believed to have been used to cajole unsuspecting job seekers.

In the fake job offer message seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the candidate was asked to fill in details including contacts, medical reports and names as part of the process to finalize the process of hiring.

Further, the note stated that a candidate had to be subjected to an aptitude test and two-day training assessment purportedly scheduled for February 25 and February 26.

"Once you complete the test, you will submit it through the email indicated within that link and wait for the results in two days' time.

If you pass the aptitude test, you will be contacted for training, medical assessment and subsequent employment," the fake job offer message read in part.

The motive of the imposter was not disclosed. However, NHIF had clarified that its recruitment process was free of charge and "does not require job applicants to pay any monies for applications".

This was not the first time NHIF flagged a job advert notice from sources masquerading to be part of its hiring staff. Several state corporations have previously been compelled to disown online posts advertising job opportunities.

To avoid falling into the trap of miscreants, State Corporations have previously advised the public only to trust information from official websites and, in some cases, verified social media accounts.
