KURA Announces Nationwide Auction of Vehicles; Requirements & How to Bid

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced a mass auction of motor vehicles and motorcycles across its offices in the country.

In a notice dated Tuesday, March 7, the agency indicated that the auction would be held from March 22 to April 5 at different locations and dates.

The auction exercise will start at KURA's headquarters in Nairobi at the Ministry of Road's yard at Wilson Depot on March 22.

Western region offices along Kisumu - Kakamega Road will conduct the auction on March 24 while the North Rift region officer will hold its auction on March 27 at Pioneer NYS - Langas Road.

The South Rift region auction will be held at Public Works Building in Nakuru county on March 29 as Central region offices ho theirs on March 30.

Other auctions are scheduled to be conducted in Garissa on April 3 and in Machakos (Public Works Building) on April 5.

Requirements and How to Bid

Kenyans interested in purchasing the vehicles were advised to visit various KURA offices to view the vehicles ahead of the sale.

The viewing dates were set for March 8 to March 21 during normal working hours.

"Interested bidders for the Motor Vehicles in Lot Nos. 3,7,8,12 &16 must deposit a refundable fee of Ksh100,000 while those interested in Lot Nos. 1,2,4,5,6,9,10,13 and 15 must deposit a refundable fee of Ksh50,000 per vehicle.

"Lot 17 (Motor Cycle) has a refundable fee of Ksh10,000.00 shall be deposited into the account number provided in the catalogue," read the notice in part.

KURA added that only Kenyans issued with auction numbers would be allowed to participate in the exercise.

"Successful bidders must pay 25 per cent of the purchase price in form of a Bankers Cheque to the KURA Account Number provided in the catalogue at the fall of the hammer.

"The successful bidders must deposit the balance of the purchase into the KURA bank account provided in the catalogue within 14 days after the auction," read the notice in part.
