The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on Thursday, March 9, refuted reports claiming that Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji had received a report of a land-grabbing case in implicating former vice president, Kalonzo Musyoka.

In a statement, the ODPP indicated that the reports were fake and misleading. He also urged the public to disregard the post purporting to have emanated from his office.

“The ODPP would like to inform the public that the information on the attached poster is misleading and untrue," the statement read.

A post that made rounds on social media platforms bearing the photo of DPP Haji purported that Kalonzo was under investigation.

According to the fake reports, DPP Haji had claimed that investigations were concluded, and he was in receipt of the final report.

“I have received a report detailing the investigation outcome of land grabbing allegations of the National Youth Service (NYS) land by the former Vice President Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka. I will review the file and advise on the appropriate action,” the statement alleged.

Previously, the former Vice President dispelled similar claims, stating that his detractors propagated them for political expediency

Addressing the allegations in 2021, the Wiper Party Leader called on the investigative agencies to probe and settle the recurrent matter on the parcel of land

Kalonzo voluntarily presented himself before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for interrogation to absolve his name from allegations alluding to a possible unprocedural process in acquiring a tract of land in Yatta, Machakos County.

"I am today presenting myself for a thorough investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations as well as the Anti-Corruption Commission. I want the matter settled once and for all," Kalonzo noted.

In his remarks, the Wiper Party Principal argued that the accusations were baseless and were advanced by political opponents keen on maligning his name, for political reasons ahead of the 2022 General Election.

Kalonzo would, later on, be summoned for a follow-up appearance by the DCI in August 2021. In a subsequent report by then DCI boss, George Kinoti, the directorate cleared Kalonzo from the probe and dispelled the allegations.
