Kenya Power Staff Pension Fund on Sunday, March 12, published a list of 417 names of Kenyans who were urged to update their details for claim settlement.

In a notice, KPPF detailed that the members ought to submit their details by March 31, 2023, following which the Fund would be terminated.

The details sought by the Fund include full names with relevant supporting documents such as National Identity Card or Fund Number or code, full particulars of claim against the Fund, and proof of membership in the Fund including contribution slips and Fund statement.

Other details include current contacts such as telephone, email or postal address, full proof supporting evidence for a beneficiary, and banking details including bank, bank branch, account name and account number for payment of claims.

The proof of claims is to be submitted to the liquidator, Anthony Muthusi by the stipulated deadline either through telephone contact or by physically delivering the documents at the Fund's offices at Stima Plaza Annex at Parklands, Nairobi.

"Review of submissions will be communicated to individual Fund members once the claims have been validated. This notice does not affect any Fund members not included in the list," the statement read in part.

Prior to 2015, Kenya Power operated a staff pension Fund known as the Fund.

The aim was to provide cash benefits to all permanent and pensionable employees of Kenya Power upon retirement, and where applicable, benefits for the dependents of deceased members.

So successful was the Fund that it was named the best pension fund provider at the 2018 Africa Investor (AI) Capital Market & Index Series Awards held in New York, USA.

At the time, KPPF knocked out other high-quality African funds from other countries including South Africa and Uganda.

In October 2019, the KPLC board, however, resolved to dissolve the Fund and Muthusi was appointed as the liquidator of the Fund.
