A video of former President Uhuru Kenyatta's Aide de Camp Timothy Stelu Lekolool speaking on the first African amphibious landing conducted by Kenya's navy went viral on Tuesday, March 14.
In the video shared by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Lekolool was heard praising the navy for conducting the first-ever amphibious landing in Africa.
"What you see out there is a product of what was taught here (Naval Training School), this means the training is effective and up to date. These operations are not just conducted by anyone, it was the first African amphibious landing conducted by the Kenya Navy, and of course, we are proud," he stated.
Kenyans heaped praises on Lekolool acknowledging his remarkable service to the former President.
The navy was also hailed for setting the pace for the continent in advancing tactical military operations to combat terror groups.
Others noted they were pleased to see the ADC after handing over to Colonel Fabian Lengusuranga, President Willliam Ruto's Aide-de-Camp.
However, most Kenyans confused the incident as a recent occurrence, but the first African amphibious landing conducted by the Kenya Navy was along the port of Kismayo against the Al Shabaab militia group in 2012.
According to retired Colonel Cyrus Oguna, who served as the Spokesperson for the military, the amphibious assault was delicate and meticulously planned.
Meanwhile, an amphibious landing is a military action that involves coordination with the sea, air, and land forces organised for an invasion.
In the video, Lekolool was the Lieutenant Colonel and commandant at the Naval Training School. He was, however, on August 8, 2022, promoted by President Kenyatta to Brigadier.
Lekolool was later deployed to the Department of Defence Headquarters after Uhuru's term.
He was appointed as the ADC in 2018 and was the first navy officer to be appointed as an aide de camp. Lekolool was Uhuru's third ADC since he was first elected in 2013.
Some of the roles of an ADC include detail leader, assistant detail leader, motorcade lead, advance lead, mobile agent, tactical commander, static agent, and protective intelligence agent.
