Citizen TV senior political news reporter, Stephen Letoo, listed his three worst experiences while on the job.

Speaking during an episode of Citizen TV's Behind the Mic, Letoo revealed that covering the National Super Alliance's (NASA's) rally at the height of the political tension between the opposition and President (Rtd.) Uhuru Kenyatta's government was one of the toughest jobs he's done in his career.

He first recalled how a protestor who sustained a gunshot wound ruined their live transmission of the events.

"One of the supporters was shot in the leg but insisted on continuing the demonstration. He was placed atop our car, and his blood was all over the windscreen.

"We were covering the event live from our car. Every two minutes, we had to turn on the wipers to get a clear picture," Letoo stated.

The journalist explained that he was overwhelmed when covering the aftermath of a landslide in West Pokot, which claimed the lives of scores of residents.

"Landslide swept the entire village clean, and people were forced to identify their loved ones, by segmented body parts. It was among the hardest things I encountered," he revealed.

Letoo explained that covering the deportation of controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna in February 2018, terming it gruesome. He was caught up in the push and pull between officers, Miguna and his supporters.

On the flip side, he disclosed that the profession brought several perks. As a multimedia and multi-talented journalist, his profile has enabled him to travel worldwide.

"I have travelled around the world, met beautiful people, and made very important contacts. I have travelled to Geneva, one of the most expensive cities in the world just because of the microphone," Letoo explained.

Letoo joined Citizen TV as an intern in 2012 after a former classmate and now a director at the station, Robert Karanja, referred him to the station.

He then moved to Radio Africa Group before returning to Royal Media Services in 2016 and curved his way to become among the station's top reporters.
