The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Secretary General Cleophas Malala, on Saturday, March 18, announced plans to counter Azimio La Umoja's mass action.

Malala declared that UDA would stage a demonstration targeting Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga's Karen home.

Speaking at Machakos University amphitheatre hall, Malala claimed that Raila's led mass action would result in business losses, and economic sabotage, and ought to be halted.

The UDA Secretary-General vowed to personally lead a group of supporters to storm Raila's home, in counter-tactics.

While addressing the UDA Machakos County delegates conference to sensitise them on the forthcoming party grassroots elections, Malala warned young people against being misused by political leaders to cause violence.

On Thursday, March 16, he threatened to mobilise government resources to deal with Raila like any other lawbreaker.

“Monday, March 20, will be a normal working day. There won’t be any holiday, whatsoever,” Malala noted.

The former Kakamega Senator wondered why President William Ruto had allowed Raila to challenge his authority.

"We will not allow Raila to destroy this economy which we are working on reviving from the pit it was left," Malala argued.

He also explained that Raila's demands were misplaced since the Kenya Kwanza government was already working on a number of initiatives to lower prices for basic commodities.

"President Ruto has initiated a number of programmes under the law to ensure that price of basic commodities is reduced. There is no need for a demonstration against a government that is working hard to sustain the economy," Malala stated.

According to Raila, the March 20 protests are meant to push the government to reduce the cost of living, especially the price of basic commodities.

The former Prime Minister also wants President William Ruto to include the opposition in the nomination of IEBC commissioners and reconstitution of the IEBC.
