Police officers, on Monday night, March 20, rescued a woman held captive by three Nigerian nationals in an apartment in Utawala, Nairobi.

According to reports, the lady visited the trio to sign a business deal in the morning, but her belongings, including her phone and money, were confiscated instead.

Allegedly, the foreigners sought to con her family and friends through various social media platforms.

Sensing the danger ahead, the lady sent a distress message to James Kamau, a human rights activist, who shared the ordeal and reported the matter to the police.

"I am in danger, save me, I came to see a Nigerian client at Utawala and they have held me, hostage, since morning," read part of the distress message from the lady.

Reportedly, the lady supplied mitumba items to the foreigners, two men, and a woman, before they turned against her.

Kamau engaged the lady via Facebook, enquiring about her location and other whereabouts. In the series of text messages, the victim explained her ordeal by sharing photos of her location to ease in the rescue.

"They want money from her. Anyone who can help? I have the contacts of the one client whom she knows. I've called her phone number, and it's indeed off," Kamau stated.

Furthermore, she shared the contact of the foreigners urging Kamau against calling the number as it would alarm them.

The activists filed a report at the Limuru Town Police Station at 10.59 pm on Monday, March 20, prompting police to rush to the scene and arrested the culprits.

"The officers will take her for medical attention since she is still traumatised," Kamau disclosed, claiming that the victim had several signs of assault.

Furthermore, it was reported that the passports of the three foreigners had expired and that they were in the country illegally.
