A video of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta allegedly visiting Northlands City after its invasion by rowdy youth on Monday, March 20, went viral.

In the 39-second video widely shared online, the former president is seen visiting a farm.

During the raid, suspects stole over 1400 sheep and set a section of the expansive property on fire.

In the clip, Uhuru was heard uttering, "That is why we decided to come to check it out."

He is also heard jokingly interacting with the traders adding, "I want to see if you will be louder than I am," amidst laughter.

However, Kenyans.co.ke established that the clip was repurposed from a video first shared on March 6, 2020, when the former president visited Chaka open-air market in Nyeri County and interacted with the residents.

Uhuru had made an impromptu visit to the market where he was received by former Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega.

"I have brought the president here so that you can tell him of all your problems," Kega stated.

In Kikuyu dialect, Uhuru shared greetings with the traders while dishing out goodies.

On the Northlands City invasion, the former head of state was yet to issue a statement despite other leaders holding divergent opinions.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on March 29 defended the slow response from the police stating that it was caused by the protests that took place concurrently.

"With or without notices, demonstrations and protests of any type which injures people, security officers, businesses and property shall be prevented at all costs," Kindiki stated.

The invasion of the Kenyatta family coincided with an attack on former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's East Africa Spectre Limited in Industrial Area, Nairobi.
