TV personality and journalist Sharon Momanyi on Thursday, April 6, confirmed that she had officially departed from Standard Media Group.
In a statement, the news anchor noted that Sunday, April 2, was her final day at the Mombasa Road-based station.
In her exit speech, the journalist lauded her colleagues and seniors for according her the opportunity to work at the station. She, however, did not disclose her next move.
"April 2, 2013: Young intern joins KTN newsroom with lofty ambitions of telling stories that change people’s lives.
"April 2, 2023: Leaves with nothing but gratitude for the trust of those that have shared their stories with me and a platform to make a difference," Sharon shared.
The TV personality joined the Media House on April 2, 2013, as an intern and rose through the ranks to become a news anchor.
In 2018, she was a features editor at KTN and won the Media Council of Kenya's Annual Journalism Excellence Award (AJEA), Journalist of the Year 2018 award.
Sharon describes herself as an award-winning journalist in Kenya, telling human-interest stories, with a special focus on sustainable development reportage.
"I am also a communications consultant working with a number of development organisations in designing messages aimed at informing masses and influencing policy for sustainable progress in specific sectors," read part of Sharon's profile.
"I'm grateful for all the wins and lessons we have shared, the impact we've created, and the friendships made. It's time to bid adieu, I pray for the success of our newsroom and the best for you my dear colleagues," she told her colleagues at KTN on Monday,3, in a WhatsApp message seen by Kenyans.co.ke
Momanyi attended Moi High School Kabarak and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations and Electronic Media in 2010 from Daystar University.
She also holds a Master's Degree in International Relations and Affairs from the United States International University- Africa.
Her departure from the company comes after several resignations of other employees.
Those who have left Standard Group recently included Veteran Radio Presenter Hassan Mwana Wa Ali, News Editor Fredrick Odeo Sirari, KTN presenter Frank Otieno, Senior Editor Ted Malanda, Broadcast Director Jacob Ayoo, Dr. Mercy Korir and Foreign Affairs Editor Lilian Odera.
