A traffic snarl-up occurred on Waiyaki Way on Thursday evening, April 20, after a police vehicle crashed into two private cars.
Witnesses who shared their frustrations over heavy traffic on Waiyaki Way noted the accident happened around Mountain View Estate.
"The police lorry was on its way to Nairobi when it hit the two private cars," an eyewitness claimed, adding that the three vehicles completely blocked the road.
Three people were reportedly injured in the 6:30 pm accident.
Those injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and received treatment for minor injuries.
Meanwhile. a group of police officers arrived at the scene and started re-directing traffic to create space for other motorists.
It was not immediately clear who among the three drivers was on the wrong side of the law, nor the cause of the accident.
Earlier, members of the public intervened and stopped two police officers from escaping after they were accused of knocking down a pedestrian along Kipande Road, in Nairobi on Thursday, April 20.
The police officers, driving a Mercedes Benz, were accused of speeding on the wrong side of the road when the misfortune occurred.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), in its report dated April 2023, indicated that 1,072 people died between January and March 2023 in road accidents.
Of the 1,072, 362 were pedestrians, 302 motorcyclists, 184 passengers, 101 pillion passengers, 104 drivers, and 19 were pedal cyclists.
