Police Spokesperson Resila Anyango, on Tuesday, April 25, allayed fears over gunshots reported in Pangani, involving several security officers.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Anyango acknowledged that the men captured on video were police officers, but clarified that they were undertaking a security drill.

"The incident was part of a police drill conducted on Monday, April 24. No civilian was harmed," the spokesperson clarified.

Officers in charge of the exercise intimated that those captured in the viral clip were attached to the Presidential Escort Unit.

News of the exercise first broke when occupants of the adjacent buildings recorded footage of the exercise from an aerial point of view.

Interest was first sparked by loud sirens followed by the commotion as four high-end police vehicles sped out of the compound.

Men dressed in black suits provided security for the motorcade while simulating how to fight oncoming threats.

A man acting as the VVIP was whiskered into a vehicle, by two security officers as the others engaged the 'attackers' to quell the threat.

Another actor fell onto a flowerbed after 'being shot' but got back on his feet a few seconds later.

"This looks like a drill. Observe how the lady is walking across the scene amid 'heavy gunfire' and the man pretending to have been shot," a comment read online.

The premises under question reportedly host officers of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
