Tourism Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza on Tuesday, April 25, struck a deal with Emmy Award-winning journalist Peter Greenberg to promote Kenya's culture in an upcoming show on PBS, an American public broadcasting service.

In a statement, the CS explained that the programme would offer a platform to showcase some of the diverse tourism products Kenya offers.

Titled the ‘Royal Tour’ show, Malonza expressed confidence that it would expose Kenyan content and products to an international audience and subsequently promote tourism.

“I held a meeting with Peter Greenberg in preparation for the upcoming 'Royal Tour', a global tv special that offers a unique platform to showcase some of our diverse and pristine tourism products and grow visitations to destination Kenya.

“‘The Royal Tour’ will expand awareness of Kenya’s unique tourism products and experiences to travellers that go beyond the usual guidebooks and folktales,” the CS stated.

Malonza was flanked by officials comprising Tourism Principal Secretaries Silvia Museiya and Ummi Bashir as well as other Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and staff from the Ministry of Tourism.

'The Royal Tour' show has already covered six countries including Tanzania in April 2022, and the episodes premiered on Amazon Prime and Apple TV+.

In the episode, Greenberg travelled with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu through the country for an entire week.

Acting as a guide, Suluhu took the journalist through the country's history, culture, environment, food, and music. She told stories of Tanzania’s hidden gems.

"It is an epic journey through this remarkable country through the eyes of its leader.

"The destinations include Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and a safari adventure through the Serengeti," the Royal Tour explained while introducing the episodes.

Other countries featured on the show include Mexico, Ecuador, Israel, Rwanda, and Poland.
