“As you are aware, our newsroom integration project is now well underway. Earlier this month, we put in place a team of senior editors to oversee the various functions in our integrated structure.

“In order to accelerate this process of transforming our journalism, I wish to announce the following appointments as part of our new newsroom structure,” the memo read in part.

Dann Mwangi, who served as the Digital and Innovation Editor and News anchor, was appointed the Broadcast News Lead Editor while Allan Olingo retained his position as a News Editor.

Further, Daisy Okoti changed roles from an Impact Editor to a Research Editor while Gilbert Mogire took up the role of Taifa Leo lead editor.

Additionally, under the editorial brands, Jackson Mutinda was announced as the new lead editor for The East African, while Paul Wafula took up the role of Business Daily lead editor.

Alex Ndegwa and Mike Owuor were appointed lead editors for Saturday Nation and Sunday Nation respectively.

Further changes were made in the content hubs department including the appointment of Leilah Mohammed as the Africa and International editor and Julians Amboko taking up the position of the Business and Technology editor.

At the same time, other positions remained vacant including the Native Content Editor position, the Chief Online Production Editor position and the Video and Audio Chief Production Editor position.

"Please note that the vacant positions will be filled in due course through a competitive process," added the memo.

The new changes were part of a recent leadership reshuffle at the Kimathi Street-Based media house as it shifts its business towards digital.
