President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, on Sunday, April 30, gifted musician Muigai wa Njoroge Ksh2 million in cash.

Speaking during Njoroge's 25-year anniversary celebrations at Thika Stadium, Gachagua presented Njoroge with a black gunny bag full of money.

The bag was brought on stage by a member of the Deputy President's security detail who confirmed that it contained the Ksh2 million.

"Ruto has sent me to give him Ksh1 million because he recognises his work and I, Rigathi Gachagua, who has been nicknamed Riggy G by the youth, came up with another million," he intimated.

Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria, who lauded Muigai for standing by him during his career, also gifted him Ksh1 million.

Gachagua took the opportunity to address the planned mass action called by Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday, May 2.

"Let Raila go to the streets. He can even wear a sufuria on his head. There is no problem. He has the right to go around Nairobi provided that he does not use goons to destroy people's property.

"The government is ready because this time round, we will not pamper anyone neither do we fear anyone. We agreed that we cannot have talks concurrent with the demonstrations," the DP stated.

Meanwhile, CS Kuria hit out at former President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly trying to destroy a government where his community formed the majority of its leadership.

"I would like to tell you that you are making a fool of yourself and our community. You know very well how much we value business yet you are joining a course to destroy the businesses of Kenya," Kuria stated.

Other politicians present at the event included Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, Members of Parliament (MPs) Alice Ng'ang'a,  Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah.

President Ruto was represented by UDA Secretary-General Cleophas Malala.
