According to political experts, former President Uhuru Kenyatta is running out of time to respond to a summon issued by nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege.

According to a letter from Sabina and her team to the Office of Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP), Uhuru was given two days to appear before a disciplinary committee for alleged misconduct

Political analyst Martin Andati argued that the former Head of State will not appear for the meeting as earlier communicated through David Murathe.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Saturday, May 13, he added that Uhuru will use the National Delegates Conference (NDC) to overrule all decisions made by Sabina.

"Uhuru clearly stated he will not attend the meeting. Sabina may argue that since he did not appear, he was rightfully replaced as the party leader," he explained.

Andati argued that Sabina and her team may be suspended from the party and will head to court to fight back. Uhuru suspended Sabina and East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) Kanini Kega from the party after the two ousted him as party leader.

However, political analyst Nafula Kisiangani opined that the current wrangles were antics to ensure Uhuru exits the political stage quietly.

She noted that Uhuru was still the party leader and financier of Jubilee. The ongoing wrangles, according to Kisiangani, were part of a long con to have him ditch Azimio within the legal parameters.

Kisiangani added that the wrangles may have been orchestrated to disorient and disrupt Azimio.

"This may be a gameplay for Uhuru to exit the Jubilee Party and Azimio without a fuss. As we know he is the financier of the party, some of these things can not happen under his nose without his knowledge," she told Kenyans.co.ke.

In the letter Sabina sent to Uhuru, she indicated that a dispute was filed against him and received by the Internal Dispute Resolution Committee.

"You are hereby required to file your response, together with any supporting documentation, with the committee within two days of this notification,” read part of the letter.

Sabina also wants Uhuru to respond to resolutions of a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting that ousted him from his seat as party leader and replaced by Sabina who is holding the position in an acting capacity.

However, the former President is under siege with the Registrar of Political Parties, Anne Nderitu, also seeking to ratify Sabina Chege's appointment as party leader. Nderitu was said to have given Uhuru Kenyatta until May 15 to respond to Sabina's demands.

She will also decide the fate of Uhuru's National Delegates Conference (NDC) scheduled for May 22.

National Assembly speaker, Moses Wetangula, while declining to approve Azimio La Umoja's removal of Sabina Chege as the National Assembly's deputy minority whip, gave the opposition 30 days to put its house in order.

Wetangula, on Thursday, May 4, ruled that Azimio failed to announce Sabina's immediate replacement as required by law.
