Nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Wanjiru Chege on Wednesday, April 26, challenged former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to convene a meeting for her to prove her sacrifices and contribution to Jubilee Party.

Addressing the media, Sabina explained that she sacrificed her political ambitions during the August 8, General Election to popularise the outfit, which was an affiliate of Azimio la Umoja.

Following the recent attacks and plans to de-whip her, Sabina indicated that she was ready to meet Uhuru and Raila to explain her contribution to the outfit during the August polls.

"I would like to look at Uhuru Kenyatta and Baba (Raila) in the face and ask, 'Did Sabina sacrifice for this party?" she posed.

Justifying her sentiments, Sabina reiterated that she could have won any political seat but she decided to shelve her ambitions for Azimio's sake.

She thus implored Uhuru to convene a meeting to iron out the issues facing Jubilee Party.

"So if something has happened, it is noble for our seniors to call us and have a chance to talk to us. I also want to appeal to our party leader, you are our leader and it is important that you call all of us together.

"It is important we give each other a chance, It is important we preserve this party, and pestering should stop," she added.

Sabina ruled out joining Azimio's weekly protests indicating that when Uhuru handed over the instruments of power to President William Ruto, he legitimised his election win.

The lawmaker further argued that she was ready to engage with other Azimio leaders to address the issues through the Parliamentary process.

Chege also lamented over plans to de-whip her at the National Assembly, noting that they were politically instigated.

Her sentiments followed an impromptu meeting between Uhuru and Jeremiah Kioni-led faction to quell the wrangles at Jubilee Party headquarters in Kileleshwa.

Uhuru challenged the disgruntled members to leave the party without wreaking havoc.

"Anyone who wants to leave a party can join another. We have no quarrel with anyone. We want to guard our party, and those who do not want, are free to leave," Uhuru stated.

"Let us maintain peace. Police officers have better things to do other than coming here to restore peace. We don't have issues with anyone, our mandate is to maintain peace," he stated.

Jubilee Party squabble pits the Jeremiah Kioni faction and that led by the acting Secretary General Kanini Kega, who are each claiming to be the legitimate leaders of the party.
