Trip to Australia & Diploma Course: Inside Kapsabet Boys Maths Contest Awards

Kapsabet High School, Nandi County, is among the best national schools in Kenya and a top choice for candidates seeking to join form one. 

The school, was however, talk of tow on Sunday, May 14 after releasing a statement announcing its annual national mathematics contest. 

What caught the attention of most Kenyans were the awards which comprised of scholarship to the best student in Form Four to study in Australia - courtesy of Grace International Migration.

Further, another student would earn a full scholarship to study a Diploma course of their choice at Strathmore University. The top student in every class from the Day school category would earn a whole year's school fees.

Trophies would be awarded to the best Boys' school, Best Girls' school, best-mixed boarding school and best school overall.

To crown it all, the top students in each category of schools including Boys' schools, Girls' schools, Mixed boarding schools and Day schools would get individual awards.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the Head of the Mathematics Department Oliver Toroitich confirmed that preparations were ongoing for the best Form Four student to travel to Australia. 

The event is slated to take place on Saturday, May 20, from 7:00 am.

"The main objective of this is to create an avenue for learners to showcase their prowess in the subject and boost their confidence in Mathematics," the statement read in part.

Each school was requested to present a team of ten participants in every class and the school may register as many teams as possible. The registration fee is Ksh2,500 per team.

Kapsabet High School was among the top ten schools that received the highest number of applications beyond their capacity.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu stated that Kapsabet Boys received 99,542 applicants against its capacity of 384.
