Lawrence Njuguna, alias DJ Fatxo on Monday, May 22, shared the events leading to the demise of interior designer Jeff Mwathi.

Speaking at Radio Jambo, he noted that Mwathi looked distressed at around midnight as they were having fun at a joint along Thika Road.

At the time, DJ Fatxo indicated that he was engrossed in a conversation with the club owner and was not paying attention to Mwathi who was in the company of his girlfriend.

The vernacular artiste pointed out that he received a text message from Mwathi who requested Ksh500 stating that he was not doing well financially.

"At the club, Jeff was not in good terms with his girlfriend hence they were not speaking. I later received a text from Jeff requesting Ksh200 or Ksh500 as he was broke. He sent a till number.

"I sent him Ksh500. It did not last a few minutes until Mwathi's girlfriend came and hugged me telling me she was leaving. We wondered why she was leaving and the party was about to begin," he noted.

The artiste claimed that he called his driver to pick him up alongside his friends at the local club to take them home. Much to his surprise, the driver came with his cousin.

After a brief conversation with Mwathi, DJ Fatxo noted that they agreed that he would spend the night at his place to purchase the items needed for his business the following day.

"He (the driver) came with my cousin and we couldn't have seven people in one vehicle so I told them to take a taxi and ended up driving myself to the house."

"Minutes later, my driver and cousin arrived at the apartment. Mwathi asked for alcohol, which I gave him. That was around 4:00 am," he recalled.

The DJ also pointed out that one of the ladies who had accompanied them requested to be dropped at home and he obliged. While leaving, he noted that it was the final time he saw Mwathi alive.

"When I was asleep, Faith tapped me and wanted to go home. So I woke up and took the three ladies and left Mwathi, my cousin and the driver. After dropping them off, I went to pick up breakfast. When I parked at Lumumba Drive at 5:00 am, I was quite high so I dozed off. What woke me up was the bright sun as it was 9:00 am.

"When I came back to the apartment, I found police officers and was informed by the watchman that someone had thrown himself off the 12th floor and I didn't suspect a thing as I stayed at the 10th apartment," he stated.

He noted that he parked his car and proceeded to view the body briefly before heading to his apartment.

"After parking, I was blocked by the pillars from seeing the body well so I looked briefly and the only thing I saw was a cracked head and someone without shorts. Going to the house, I found my cousin and driver who had just woken up and I informed them about the body," he noted.
