A dealership is a car garage that deals with fixing and maintaining only one particular brand of vehicle.

Many Kenyans avoid dealerships because they are deemed to be more expensive than other garages mushrooming all over the country.

While dealerships can be expensive in the short term, they are cheap in the long run because the mechanics there are usually more skilled and experienced.

This is because they are mostly factory-trained and know your vehicle in depth. They also use original spare parts for your vehicle saving you subsequent costs in repairs.

Written Estimate

No matter how minor the car repair is, always ensure you get a written estimate beforehand.

Rogue mechanics will con you by charging exorbitant amounts after repair. A written estimate will give you an idea of what will be fixed and how much it will cost.

Without a written estimate, a mechanic will likely exploit you by exaggerating what he repaired on the car.

Referrals

One of the best ways to get a good mechanic is through referrals from satisfied customers.

Do your due diligence, and ask around in your circle of friends to hear their experiences. Through this, you are likely to land a mechanic with good reputation and one who has been tried and tested.
