The Office of The Registrar Of Political Parties (ORPP) on Friday, June 2, rejected the resolutions made during Jubilee Party's National Delegates Conference (NDC) led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu stated that Uhuru's faction failed to meet the stipulated terms under which she would consider the resolutions passed on Monday, May 22, 2023.

In a letter addressed to embattled Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, the Registrar of Political Parties, Anne Nderitu, explained that Jubilee Party's resolutions remain null and void until submission of all necessary documentation. Kioni delivered the documents to the office on May 23.

"Reference is made to the above subject matter and your letter dated May 23, 2023, submitting various documents, including, a notice convening the Special NDC meeting May 22, 2023.

"You also sent a notice of change of venue and resolutions of the Special NDC meeting of May 22, 2023. However, following a review of the submitted documents, this Office is unable to address the substance of the resolutions for non-submission of requisite documents," Nderitu stated.

While the option and window for accepting Jubilee Party updates were still open, she explained that Uhuru's political wing should consider moving quickly to deal with the mishaps in their documentation.

She explained that her office was operating under strict adherence to Law and Constitution; anything that did not meet the legal threshold would be rejected immediately.

Mishaps

Nderitu stated that her office did not receive a duly signed list of attendance with Identification Numbers (IDs) to ascertain the composition of the NDC and the quorum in line with articles 8.1(1) and 23 of the Jubilee Party (JP) constitution.

"You also failed to submit a comprehensive Minutes of the NDC meeting to, inter alia, determine the process and mode of election given that only an extract of Minutes was submitted. Owing to the above, the documents submitted are incomplete," Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu stated.

On Monday, May 22, hundreds of delegates gathered at Ngong Racecourse to reaffirm support for retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and their affiliation with the Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.

However, the Jubilee Party wing, controlled and led by Nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege on Thursday, June 1, held a disciplinary hearing. Chege and East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP, Kanini Kega, termed the Uhuru NDC resolutions null and void.

The former ruling party had been marred by infighting, affecting its operations.
