A family in Rongai is mourning the death of their relative, Amos Kirwa, who was on Wednesday, June 7, found murdered.
Kirwa, who had returned to the country three weeks ago from Qatar, was found dead in his home next to his children, aged 10 and 12.
The bodies of the deceased were found by a neighbour who had gone to check on them after they went missing for several days.
Confirming the incident, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives attached to Rongai Police Station noted that investigations into the incident had been launched.
"The police are working hard to bring the perpetrators to justice, but until then, the community will remain on edge," one of the detectives told the press.
The authorities believe that the killings took place on the night of Monday, June 5, by people who were strategic in their activities and tried to conceal evidence.
According to the detectives, there were no signs of forced entry into the home proving that the suspected killer or killers may have known Kirwa and his family.
Wife's Arrest
Meanwhile, the DCI officers arrested the wife of the deceased for interrogation over the incident
Kirwa's kin described the deceased as a kind and gentle man who could not harm anyone. The family members revealed that Kirwa was a jobseeker who traveled to Qatar to look for a job but failed to secure one.
He returned home early June 2023, but met his death abruptly under unclear circumstances.
The police extended their patrols to take place both day and night in order to weed out criminal elements from the area after residents expressed concern over their safety.
The police also urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, noting that there was a standby squad to deal with any distress calls.
