A businessman and former political aspirant, Johnson Kimani, alias Wakim reportedly jumped from the sixth floor of his building in Githurai 45 on Monday night, June 12.

According to a friend who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, the news of his death shocked the family, which was struggling to come to terms with his demise.

Wakim reportedly faced financial constraints months after losing in the 2022 General Election.

The politician vied under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

Police, however, sought to establish whether the businessman jumped or was pushed from the famous club and guest house.

When the incident occurred, locals rushed to the area to rescue the victim, but he allegedly died on the spot, and his body was ferried to Kenyatta University (KU) mortuary.

Wakim was eulogised as a great leader who campaigned with energy, offering his followers hope during the last General Election.

The deceased is survived by children and several wives.

"It is sad Kenya still does not have post-election guidance and counseling sessions for poll losers who are left to deal with their defeat," a friend remarked.

On Wednesday, May 31, another political aspirant claimed he was broke after spending his fortune on the 2022 General Election

The politician alleged that he was shortchanged by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) despite spending Ksh125,000 on campaigns and stepping down for another candidate after nominations.

"I built some politician's careers and helped them win but now they do not pick my calls as I try to recover my money," he told Kenyans.co.ke.
