The Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) on Tuesday, June 20, called on interested Kenyan traders and companies to supply meat products, including mutura, on their behalf.
In a statement, KMC announced that it was looking for applicants to supply sausages, smokies, mutura, Meatballs, burgers, bacon, ham, brawn, hotdog, and vienna, all branded with KMC logo.
The Commission explained that the products will be sold in Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado, Narok, Nakuru, and Mombasa counties.
It further indicated that it was focused to ensuring Kenyans have access to safe and quality meat products.
"In an effort to meet the consumer's diverse tastes and preferences, the Commission has expanded its value-added products range. However, due to distribution requirements, the Commission is seeking interested partners as distributors/ stockists," read part of the statement.
How to Apply
KMC emphasised that interested firms and individuals should demonstrate competency in distributorship, financial resources, and management strength to sell and distribute beef value-added products.
The submissions should be addressed to the commission through the post office, P.O. BOX 2-00204, Athi River.
It should be addressed to Brigadier James N. Githaga, the Managing Commissioner.
For hand delivery, the applicants should drop the submissions in the Tender Box at KMC, Athi River factory premises located at the Corporate Communication Office reception.
All submissions should be made before Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 11 am.
Meanwhile, KMC was formed in 1950 through an act of Parliament and has several functions that include processing and packing meat products, procuring quality livestock, and maintaining sound financial systems.
It has a huge production capacity as well as infrastructure and has a slaughter capacity of 1,000 large animals per day. The slaughtering process is very elaborate and ensures all hygiene measures are put in place for quality products.
