The Commission for University Education (CUE) on Tuesday, June 27, flagged 13 institutions it claimed are offering degree, postgraduate, and diploma programs without its grant of authority to operate.
The commission, in a notice, warned members of the public against enrolling in the institutions noting that they were not authorised to offer the select courses.
"Members of the public are hereby being notified that any institution purporting to offer university education in Kenya and does not appear in this list is an illegal entity and is not authorised to operate," CUE warned.
The institutions listed include:
Eldoret Bible College
Al-Munawarrah College
Grace Life Bible College
Africa Theological Seminary
Regions Beyond Ministry Bible College
Baraton College
Africa Talent University
Breakthrough Bible College
Theophilus Theological College
Northwestern Christian University
Logos University
Harvest Land Unversity
Word of Faith Bible College
Some of the programs offered by the above-mentioned institutions include a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) in Theology, a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology, and a Bachelor of Theology Master of Christian Leadership among others.
CUE also listed all approved institutions in the country, including their year of establishment and accreditation.

According o the Universities Act 2012 Section 28 (5), anyone who purports to offer a degree through a university that is not accredited commits an offense and shall be liable upon conviction to a fine of not less than Ksh10 million, or to imprisonment for a term of not less than three years or to both.
