Another video of Kenya Power staff being threatened with a machete in Mombasa while disconnecting power from a home enraged Kenyans after it resurfaced on Wednesday, July 7.
In the video, the power utility firm staff member identified as Briton is seen disconnecting the power line when a man wielding a machete approaches him.
Briton captured the video with his work camera on May 19 while atop the pole.
During the incident, the man - whose identity was not disclosed - sought to know why his power supply was being disconnected despite having cleared his bills.
The distraught customer indicated that the power was being disconnected for a second time acknowledging that he was previously cut out due to his shortcomings.
"Don't even attempt to come down. You (Briton) know the issues that I have been having with this account. I have been treating you like my brother. When you came to cut my power supply last time, did I object?
"This time around, I am not at fault. Why are you cutting my supply from the pole instead of the meter box?" he wondered.
During the interaction, the Kenya Power staff member did not respond and only indicated that he would stay atop the pole until the man left.
"There is no problem, I will stay here until evening then," Briton responded.
Earlier, Kitui East Member of Parliament Nimrod Mbai was arrested after assaulting a Kenya Power employee who went to disconnect power from his Kitengela home.
Meanwhile, the power utility firm CEO Joseph Siror reached out to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to help them in dealing with the increasing cases of illegal power connections.
DCI boss Mohamed Amid pledged to support the agency in dealing with the vice.
