The main suspect in former Treasury employee Tom Osinde's murder case reportedly washed the entire house to cover up the heinous crime, a detective privy to the matter revealed.
According to the source who spoke to the press on condition of anonymity, Julius Mugoi proceeded to transport Osinde's body from Ngata Estate, Nakuru County, to River Gucha in Kisii County.
The detective argued that the plan was aimed at duping the detectives into believing that the tragedy occurred in Kisii County.
While collecting evidence at Osinde's home, forensic officers identified small traces of blood which matched the officer.
The new evidence placed Mugoi at the main crime scene because he had access to the house prior to Osinde's demise.
Detectives are trying to determine if Mugoi - who was Osinde's employee - was acting on orders from other parties.
Further, close associates of Mugoi revealed that he was a notorious lawbreaker who terrorised the residents of Nyakeyo village.
Some claimed that he stole his cousin's Ksh100,000 at one time as well as a Toyota Land Cruiser V8. It is reported that Mugoi relocated to Nakuru County in search for greener pastures.
The police will be seeking to expedite the investigations to ensure no stone is left unturned to unravel the motive of the murder.
The post-mortem conducted on Osinde's body revealed that he succumbed to two slash wounds. According to Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, the cuts caused severe damage to the brain and the spine.
"What killed him was two blows to his head with injury to the brain and spine," Oduor stated.
"He doesn't look like someone who resisted so much, beacuse we did not see any defensive injuries. We are trying to investigate if he was drugged or threatened or whether he was caught unawarenesss," he added.
