Former Treasury employee Tom Osinde's house was tampered with, Rongai Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer Donatta Atieno has revealed.

Addressing the media on Thursday, June 29, Atieno indicated that two light switches at Osinde's home in Ngata Estate, Nakuru County, had been meddled with.

The DCIO explained that the police were still investigating whether the switches, located on the upper floor of the house within the 10-acre home, were interfered with before or after his disappearance.

She also indicated that two employees had been apprehended as suspects in the case. The duo will be detained for 21 days at the Menengai Police Station.

"The farm is over 10 acres and we combed through 7 acres and nothing substantive came up. What we noticed is that two switches in the house (upstairs) are interfered with but we are still investigating it. We have not discussed the same with the family," she stated.

Another employee - who is the prime suspect in the alleged murder - confessed to having thrown the body of the former Treasury employee in River Kuja also known as Gucha River.

Nyakeyo Assistant Chief told the press that the prime suspect led detectives to the river on Wednesday, June 28, and pinpointed the exact point where Osinde's body was thrown in from.

The assistant chief stated that the police and national government officials also decided to involve professional divers in the search for the body. Unfortunately, the exercise proved futile.

The team was unable to retrieve the body because Osinde's remains had already been booked in a morgue in Migori County.

Reports indicate that the body was retrieved from the river on Thursday, June 22, and booked as a John Doe.

Later in the day, a postmortem examination will be conducted in response to reports indicating that Osinde's body was found mutilated, with a cut on the head, and his hands and legs tied.

Osinde went missing after leaving his home in Nakuru County on Sunday, June 18. The former Treasury official was heading to his rural home in Kisii County.
