The body of former National Treasury official Tom Osinde, who was reported missing on Sunday, June 18, was found in River Kuja, Migori County.
Kenyans.co.ke learnt that the family was informed about the discovery on the morning of Thursday, June 29, by the police after a search that lasted more than a week.
The deceased's brother, Enock Nemwel Osinde, revealed that the family was headed to the scene by the time of publishing this piece.
Police officers confirmed that the deceased's body was already decomposing when it was found.
In an earlier interview, Osinde's farmhand noted that the deceased did not show any sign of distress before he was reported missing. The farmhand noted that Osinde sent him to meet an unidentified lady before he embarked on his trip from Nakuru to Kisii. He never returned.
"There was a place he sent me, he did not fill me in on the woman's identity. The woman was to identify me by how I was dressed.
"Before I left, he had spoken with the lady on the phone. As he had instructed, I went to the petrol station, and the woman easily identified me," he stated adding that he delivered the money.
While addressing the press on Saturday, June 24, the family stated that his car was recovered vandalised and abandoned in Kilgoris, Transmara West.
The kin indicated that they last spoke to Osinde on Friday, June 23, when he left home aboard the car.
Osinde was a financial expert who graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Degree in Economics before joining the Ministry of Finance.
He resigned in 2010 from his position in the department to manage his private business and lived peacefully at his Ngata Farm in Nakuru.
According to his family, Osinde was an avid supporter of various charitable organisations. They also described him as a kind and generous man liked by family and friends.
