President William Ruto's daughter Charlene Ruto on Monday, July 17 gave insight into her father's dietary preferences at State House.

The first daughter shed light on the Head of State's fondness for honey, which she revealed the Head of State uses daily.

According to the first daughter, she introduced her father to using honey as an additive which he immediately embraced.

She also revealed that Ruto has a strong preference for honey in liquid form and often gets irritated if the additive begins to solidify.

Charlene also recounted a particular incident where she had to come up with creative solutions to prevent the honey from solidifying as Ruto is quite particular about how he likes the additive served.

" He was so strict with it that I started boiling it so that it cannot crystalise," she stated.

According to Charlene, President Ruto gradually embraced these new dietary habits after she (a beekeeper) educated him about the various benefits of consuming honey. She advised the president that he was missing out on nutrients by taking boiled honey.

Interestingly, a photograph captured during a meeting between Ruto and a section of leaders from his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party on the evening of July 2, showcased the president's preference for honey.

While the other guests opted for sugar, President Ruto was photographed using honey, providing a visual testament to his newfound dietary choice.

Other Meals

As far as other meals are concerned, President Ruto is reported to maintain a simple diet and regularly takes ugali, meat, and a variety of vegetables.

When the president hosted a media roundtable in May, Nation journalist James Smart observed firsthand Ruto's preference for vegetables

“We followed him to the buffet and sat around a long table. He started with two pieces of well-done ribs, a lot of greens, steamed vegetables, and ugali," Smart documented.

Fitness

During the May 14 interview, Ruto addressed widespread speculation regarding his weight loss revealing he decided to take care of his body after not looking after himself properly during the election period due to intense political activity.

“I had an original fit that in the last one and a half to two years. We went into elections and you know when you have elections you have a lot of pressure, sometimes you take out the pressure on food.

“You have to do this and that and you don’t have time to go and exercise and sometimes you eat. Because you don’t know when you will get the next meal, sometimes you overeat,” he stated.
