June Onguko Matindu is a trailblazer who serves as an inspiration to many, both in Kenya and beyond, for her achievements in the business world.

Her path to success began in Western Kenya, where she grew up in modest circumstances. At a young age, she undertook several small-scale initiatives like selling sukuma wiki and charcoal in wholesale.

June also displayed her entrepreneurial spirit at school by selling jaggery, known locally as sukari nguru, to her fellow classmates in primary school.

Following her primary school education, June proceeded to Lugulu Girls High School in Webuye, Bungoma County in 1992 and completed her studies in 1996.

After doing well in the high school examinations, June took a significant step in 1998 by relocating to the United States to pursue further education.

She studied Business Management at Keller Graduate School of Management between 2011 and 2013 after which she tossed herself into the world of entrepreneurship.

Since clearing school, she has established herself as a prominent figure in the business world.

Today, she proudly serves as the founder and CEO of June Properties Limited, a real estate company based in Texas, USA which purposes to provide Americans with their dream homes.

"Our legacy is built on a foundation of professionalism, market knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to client service. We provide a comprehensive range of real estate services, from buying and selling to investment consulting, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client," reads part of the agency's website.

Narrating her journey to Daring Abroad, Onguko revealed that she ventured into the business to create a second stream of income for the family.

After completing college, she worked in the corporate world but kept yearning for more. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and a Master's in the same field.

Following this, motherhood came knocking and gave her the driving force to venture into real estate. Onguko stated that the new field allowed her to earn money and raise her young family.

"It has been a long journey, I came into the field not knowing much but with time I have learnt a few things and it is now 18 years since," she stated.

Her business grew with a small group of employees before her husband joined the team to steer it forward with his accounting and management expertise.

The agency sells about four homes a month. It helps the locals sell, buy, rent, or lease homes.

"Real estate in Houston has gone up in the past few years. When I started the median house was selling for about Ksh22 million - Ksh29.3 million (USD150,000 - USD200,000) right now we are at around Ksh66 million - Ksh73.4 million (USD450,000 - USD500,000)," he remarked.

She also advised those outside Texas to not shy away from investing in real estate.
