President Ruto has awarded Kenya Defence Forces 9,000 units from the affordable housing project to commemorate their KDF Day celebration.
Speaking at the 12th KDF Day celebrations at Embakasi Garrison in Nairobi, Ruto stated that gifting the military men houses was the best way to appreciate their service.
The government, he stated, was determined to deliberately ensure that KDF is an automatic beneficiary of the affordable housing plan.
“Last week, we completed the procurement process in three different barracks to build 9,000 units of houses for our KDF,” President Ruto assured the officers.
The government further completed the procurement process of construction equipment to support the KDF engineering department.
Ruto tasked the military to develop and open up more regions in Kenya by constructing roads, hospitals, schools, and bridges.
A comprehensive program was also established to pave the way for upgrading KDF equipment and facilities through taxpayers' money.
Uplifting the KDF would ease their mandate of defending the country and countering enemy attacks.
Ruto lauded the KDF efforts in ensuring peace and stability in the country and region, pledging to continue supporting the military.
“I convey appreciation to you for your service. Our neighbourhood security, stability, and developments are our safety and growth. We honor the Kenya Defence Forces for their sacrifice, dedication, and bravery in defending and protecting our country and its interests against external aggression.
"Through their unmatched heroism — putting themselves in the line of fire — Kenya and the region enjoyed relative peace and stability, the necessary condition to our prosperity.
Ruto was accompanied to the event by First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto, Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla, and other high-ranking KDF officers.
