A 78-year-old woman from Murang’a County has been found dead in her house after missing for days.

Police officers who found the decomposing body in a seat inside the house were acting on information given by one of her sons.

According to police reports, the son got worried after he tried reaching his mother several times unsuccessfully.

It was then that he suspected that his mother might not be well and called police officers to investigate the matter.

While the police have not yet ruled out foul play, it is reported that they had found the house locked from inside.

This was an indication that the aged woman might have passed on alone in the house due to preexisting conditions.

Police officers were forced to break into the house where they found the already decomposing body.

The time of death is yet to be established but the body was moved to mortuary for postmortem.

The news of the woman’s body decomposing in her house comes two months after another woman’s body was found decomposed in Kiambu County.

Autopsy reports revealed that the lady had died nine months ago and her demise had gone unnoticed.

Just like in the Murang’a case, the body was found by officers who were called to the scene after a family member unsuccessfully tried reaching the 82-year-old.

There was no suspicion of foul play at the moment but police officers are yet to release autopsy results.
