CCTV footage captured a motorist speeding off from a petrol station in Kiambu after refilling his vehicle with fuel worth Ksh8,000 without paying.
According to the CCTV footage that was shared by officials of the petrol station based in Gikambura officials, the incident took place on Friday at 1:47 a.m.
In the video, a fuel attendant is captured pumping fuel into the Toyota Noah's tank for over a minute.
However, shortly after removing the pump from the vehicle's tank, the driver speeds off even before the petrol cap is returned.
The attendant then runs to seek help from his colleagues to stop the driver. However, their efforts were futile.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, John Mugwe, an official at the Petrol Station, revealed that the matter had been reported to the police with the motorists being sought after.
Mugwe added that the police efforts were yet to bear fruit even as they sought the help of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
"The police are yet to get hold of the driver. The issue is that we have searched for the number plate on the NTSA platform and we discovered some anomalies.
"During our search, we established that the number plates do not belong to the Toyota Noah," he revealed.
The Friday incident has caused an uproar among Kenyans with many condemning the incident that is creeping back among motorists.
Similar incidents were witnessed early in the year whenever fuel prices were increased.
Notably, the incident came after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) increased field prices by over Ksh5.
Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene are now retailing at Ksh217.36, Ksh205.47 and Ksh205.06 respectively.
