A 42-year-old man died after a stone fell at a construction site, killing him on the spot.
The police did not reveal the identity of the casual labourer but told Kenyans.co.ke that the construction project in on Eastleigh's Sixth Avenue.
The man died on Saturday, raising questions about safety standards in Nairobi's construction sites.
Workers and visitors to construction sites are required to put on safety gear including helmets, coats, and boots to protect them from falling debris and other hazards.
This is the second death in the past two months at a construction site in Eastleigh, raising concerns over regulators who are supposed to check whether developers meet all safety requirements.
Police noted that the stone that killed the man came from atop a construction crane and landed on his head.
Police have now stopped further works on the site to allow investigations.
Eastleigh has in the past years recorded a boom in construction projects with some experts warning that some break the city construction laws and quality standards.
Construction stakeholders have blamed corruption at City Hall and the National Construction Commission (NCC) for the rise in construction-related accidents and developers who fail to meet requirements.
According to police, some of the cases go unreported with developers hiding the incidents.
There are no official records on construction-related deaths making it hard to know how many Kenyans have lost their lives in the last year.
This is despite the existence of the NCC which is supposed to regulate the sector and come up with laws that guarantee security and safety.
