The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Tuesday arrested a County Public Service Board CEO.

EACC in a statement said that the county official was arrested at her home on November 7, 2023.

“She is currently being escorted to EACC offices for further action this afternoon,” EACC said in a statement.

However, the commission did not disclose more information on the arrest.

This comes even as EACC on August 30, 2023, announced that it was investigating 21 sitting and former governors over corruption and economic crimes involving tens of billions of public funds.

According to the anti-corruption agency, current and former county governors were being investigated for embezzlement of public funds, payment of fraudulent pending bills, and blatant disregard of financial management laws.

At the time, the commission stated that the investigations were at different stages. The agency pointed out that once the investigations are concluded, the files will be forwarded to the Office of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for further action.

For instance, EACC on October 23, ordered the Kilifi County Government to terminate a Ksh103 million tender awarded to a local company to design and maintain an integrated revenue collection management system.

The anti-graft body in a statement revealed that the contracted company, a construction firm, did not have the capacity and experience to undertake revenue management and collection.

Similarly, on October 4, EACC forwarded the file detailing the findings into investigations into alleged corruption at the Kakamega County Government during former Governor Wycliffe Oparanya to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for action.

The Governor had been arrested a month earlier over alleged corruption and abuse of office.

"As we speak now, we have just concluded our investigations on this particular person," EACC Chairperson David Oginde told the National Dialogue Committee (NDC).
