Former Nigerian Ambassador to Kenya Yusuf Yunusa has died at 73.
Various Nigerian media outlets reported that the seasoned diplomat died on Friday after suffering from a short illness and passed away while receiving treatment at the Yobe University Teaching Hospital.
Yunusa was the immediate former Ambassador to Kenya.
The late ambassador was laid to rest on Saturday in line with Muslim traditions.
His funeral was attended by Secretary to the State Government Baba Malam Wali.
Various politicians and diplomats who attended his funeral described him as a dedicated and honest leader who lived a selfless life.
Yunusa was also lauded as a catalyst for positive transformation in every organization he entered, consistently delivering his utmost to attain optimal results.
The diplomat commenced his professional journey as an educator before making a transition to public service, where he assumed directorial positions across various ministries.
Yunusa, armed with a degree in Education from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, undertook varied responsibilities in his career.
He notably served as a Principal, Zonal Deputy Director of Education, and Chairman of the Yobe State Local Government Service Commission.
"He has never allowed age to be an issue when it comes to acquiring knowledge which was why when the paradigm of knowledge in Nigeria shifted to information technology, Ambassador Yusuf Yunusa enrolled himself at the Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu in order to be a computer literate," the Nigerian High Commission in Kenya's website describes the late envoy.
Born in Nguru in 1950, the late Ambassador Yusuf Yunusa will be remembered for a stellar legacy.
He leaves behind four wives, 21 children, and several grandchildren.
