Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced the closure of Uhuru Highway, Parliament Roand and Aerodrome Road.
In a statement dated Thursday, the road agency noted that the roads will be closed on Sunday, November 26, from 6 am to 2 pm.
According to the road agency, the closure was necessitated by a planned bike race set to start from the Central Business District (CBD).
"Please note that sections of Uhuru Highway, Parliament Road, Aerodrome Road and Parliament Road will be closed on Sunday, November 26. The closure is due to the Grand Nairobi Bike Race scheduled to take place at KICC, Nairobi."
"We urge motorists to use alternative routes," read the notice in part.
KURA added that traffic marshalls will be deployed to guide motorists using the affected roads on that particular day.
Motorists were also advised to follow the traffic signs to avoid creating traffic snarl-ups.
As per the racing guidelines, the cyclist will commence their journey from KICC through Uhuru Highway before accessing Langata Road, off the busy Mombasa Road.
The cyclists will then make a return to the CBD using Aerodrome Road.
Several activity is expected along Aerodrome Road as a water and medical point will be set up in that area.
Another medical and water unit will be set up along Langata Road between Wilson Airport and Uhuru Gardens.
