Police officers in Busia have launched a manhunt for three suspects who escaped from Sio Port Police Station in Busia on sartuday December 2, 2023 morning.

According to reports, the three made their way out of the cell without the police noticing.

It is believed that the trio made their way out of the station in Funyula using a blunt object to cut the grills of the cells. However, it was yet to be clear how the police did not pick the noise.

Police officers drawn from the larger Busia County have already launched a manhunt for the three whose whereabouts remain largely unknown.

Detectives also launched an investigation into how the suspects gained access to a blunt object which they used to stage their escape.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a police officer based in Busia who spoke on condit on of anonymity confirmed the escape.

“Yes they escaped this morning, we are still looking for them,” the Busia-based police officer stated.

The three suspects had been arrested over a series of violence with robbery in the region.

Elsewhere on July 4, nine suspects whose case was still pending in court broke from a police cell in Isiolo.

The nine made their way out at about 4 am after breaking the jail's lock despite being adjacent to the OB desk.

Reports indicated that the sentry and police manning the desk realised that the suspects had escaped several hours later into the day.

Among the nine suspects were juveniles whose cases were already heard and awaiting the final verdict.
