A wanted suspect escaped a trap laid by the detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who raided his home in Isibania, Migori County.
DCI, on Saturday morning, September 9, stated that its counterparts from specialized police units conducted the early morning raid after trailing the suspect for an unspecified period of time.
Upon learning about the dragnet, the suspect vanished, leaving the detectives prowling his home in an effort to arrest and charge him.
"The wanted suspect - PMW - who remains on police radar for a number of violent robberies narrowly escaped the officers' dragnet," DCI confirmed.
It, however, did not explain how the suspect escaped, whether he was tipped off or if the police blundered during the operation
Detectives were deployed to track him down, with police weary that the suspect may wreak more havoc as he was a dangerous suspect on the loose.
"His manhunt is underway," DCI stated, but declined to divulge whether it deployed a dog unit to track him or if they were surveilling his phone to trace his last movements.
DCI did not indicate if the suspect was armed but urged members of the public to report his whereabouts via 0800 722 203.
However, Two persons of interest were also arrested in the operation and are aiding the detectives with further investigations.
Police also recovered a Czeska pistol with two magazines, 58 rounds of 9mm calibre and a sharp dagger in the stealth operation.
The firearm and other exhibits will be processed and documented prior to being availed in court as evidence.
Police will also attempt to ascertain whether the weapons were registered or were also used in past robbery cases.
