A video of a man seemingly intoxicated forcing his way into a taxi via the window attracted the attention of onlookers at Juja along Thika Road on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that the man was a passenger in the taxi when the driver allegedly stole his phone leading to the altercation.

Following this incident, the passenger refused to let go of the driver demanding to have his phone back. He forced his way into the car despite efforts from some residents to hold him back.

As the situation escalated the driver drove off as witnesses looked on in disbelief.

The man was later found lying on the ground in a nearby bush nursing bruises on his face and wounds in various parts of his body.

The wounded man continued to demand for his phone. However, his speech became inaudible as a crowd gathered around him.

Police officers arrived at the scene as investigations commenced into the matter.

The incident sparked debate with a section of Kenyans accusing taxi drivers of taking advantage of their passengers and in some instances stealing from them.

"Nowadays those taxi guys are taking advantage, some guys faced the same problem last weekend. Always make sure the driver and the vehicle match what you requested," one person advised.

Additionally, some suggested that the taxi driver may have drugged the passenger as witnesses found him mumbling while lying on the ground.

Kenyans commenting online asked Kenyans to hail taxis from reputable firms to avoid falling into similar predicaments.

However, it was unclear where the taxi driver had picked up the passenger or whether there was an earlier altercation between the two leading to the drama at Juja.

On the other hand, a section of Kenyans questioned why the man would force himself into someone else's vehicle risking his life in the process. They pointed out that the bruises may have been inflicted when he disturbed the taxi driver.

"He should have taken the car's number plate and reported the matter at the police station rather than putting his life in danger," another added.

Generally, they were concerned that none of the residents offered to help the man before he was dumped in a bush questioning why most were recording the ordeal.
