President William Ruto was on Tuesday put to task about the case of missing Indian tycoon Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan and his colleague Zaid Sami Kidiwai during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a statement, Dammu Ravi, the Indian Secretary for Economic Relations in the Ministry of External Affairs revealed that President Ruto had appraised India on the case.

Without delving too much into the details, Ravi remarked that Kenya was being cooperative on the matter.

“The authorities on both sides have been in contact with each other and information is being shared between the two sides,” the Secretary stated.

''At this point, we should not speculate because the investigation is ongoing.”

While issuing the statement, Ravi warned the Indian press against speculating on the matter as it is a sub-judice matter in the courts of Kenya.

Showing faith in Kenya’s promise to investigate the matter, the government official urged Indian citizens to remain patient as they await the results of the investigation.

The tycoon went missing in Westlands, Nairobi on July 23, 2022, two months before Kenya’s general election.

It was reported at the time that he had been working with a digital media team working on President William Ruto's campaign who at the time, was a presidential candidate.

In August, Ravi’s team was given a three-week ultimatum by a one-judge bench in India to establish the whereabouts of the missing tycoon.

Zulfiqar’s family in a petition filed at an Indian court accused the Kenyan police of foul play in the disappearance of their kin.

While Kenya’s security agencies have denied involvement in the disappearance of the two Indian nationals, 10 people have so far been arrested in connection to the case.
